Disabled People and the Military
This web-site is an attempt at a website for disabled people and promoting disability issues from a left-wing working-class viewpoint. It has the following long-term aims: to inform disabled people about the nature of our oppression and what to do about it, to promote a positive image of disability by promoting disabled people who have contributed to society and culture, and to provide a source of links to disabled self-help groups (both political and non-political).
In autumn 2000, General Guthrie of the British Army issued a statement strongly implying that disabled people would never be able to serve in the UK army

When the DDA was introduced in 1995, it was as a result of a disabled people demonstrating that relying on good will and exercising gentle persuasion were not enough to tackle the discrimination they experienced in their everyday lives.
Radar Disabled People Network
RADAR was formed in 1977. It now has nearly 700 members including individuals, organisations of and for disabled people, corporate and public-sector organisations.

When disabled people protest against unfair treatment by non-disabled people or by the Establishment, we are often dismissed as having "a chip on our shoulder
